Leadership is the influencing process of leaders and followers to achieve organizational objectives through change. The question is how?
Since Abraham Maslow’s defined the Hierarchy of Needs 70 years ago in his “Theory of Human Motivation”, the fundamentals have not changed. A leader cannot exist without followers so you have to understand how to motivate people to buy into your agenda.
Motivation is what makes employees act in certain ways. So, how can you motivate people in a simple way? Understanding people’s motives – their reasons for doing something, is the key to becoming a good leader. By fulfilling innate human needs in priority, culminating in self-actualization the leader addresses a theory of psychological health.
Although basic principles of physiological, safety, belong and self-esteem needs have not changed, the social, economic and working mode changed significantly since 1943.
A significant factor in human dissatisfaction today is the sedentary behavior. It causes sedentary conditions and diseases preventing 50% of the population over 50 to enjoy life to the fullest. Most people don’t realize that until is too late to turn back.
The role and the opportunity for a modern and progressive leader are to help employees to realize that and help them to find direction, motivation and the practical way to achieve life quality. It is not enough to let people know why. They already know that. We all know that the way to healthy and successful life is through a good nutrition and exercise. Yet most people don’t know how.
The transition from sedentary to mobility office environment is the best opportunity to empower employees with the engagement and leadership attributes. In a modern and progressive business looking forward to thriving and survive for next 5 years, developing a great culture of confidence, commitment, responsibilities, empathy, setting and achieving goals and teamwork, is an indispensable leadership objective.
The HiACHIEVR program designed to inspire employees to develop, embrace, and reinforce the best employee engagement and leadership practices through the physiological transformation. The program is based on teamwork with individual goals. It requires no strenuous exercise, just commitment and consistency like any business.
