Since Abraham Maslow’s defined the Hierarchy of Needs 70 years ago in his “Theory of Human Motivation”, the fundamentals have not changed. A leader cannot exist without followers so you have to understand how to motivate people to buy into your agenda.
Motivation is what makes employees act in certain ways. So, how can you motivate people in a simple way? Understanding people’s motives – their reasons for doing something, is the key to becoming a good leader. By fulfilling innate human needs in priority, culminating in self-actualization the leader addresses a theory of psychological health.
Although basic principles of physiological, safety, belong and self-esteem needs have not changed, the social, economic and working mode changed significantly since 1943.
A significant factor in human dissatisfaction today is the sedentary behavior. It causes sedentary conditions and diseases preventing 50% of the population over 50 to enjoy life to the fullest. Most people don’t realize that until is too late to turn back.
